Barclays Bolsters Georgia Branch With Director Hire From MSSB

The wealth and investment management division of Barclays has appointed John Houlihan - formerly of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney - as a director and regional manager within its Atlanta, GA office. 

Reporting to Steve Houston, managing director and head of sales management, Americas, Houlihan will manage all aspects of the office while developing the regional business, the firm said.

Houlihan worked for nearly 20 years in wealth management at MSSB. More recently, he held management roles in the Atlanta region, having moved there in 2008 to oversee several offices.

Mitch Cox, head of wealth management, singled out the Southeast region as an “integral” part of Barclays’ wealth management growth plans. The firm also has offices in Miami and Palm Beach, FL. 

In other recent developments, Ian Lowitt, who has served as chief operating officer at the wealth management division of Barclays in the Americas, is to leave the UK-listed firm, the bank confirmed to this publication.

Additionally, Barclays continued to expand its ultra high net worth team in California earlier this month, with the addition of Matthew Celenza and Larry DiGioia as investment representatives within its Los Angeles, CA office.

Overall, the following UHNW advisors have joined Barclays' LA office in the past six months: Lisa Amster from Goldman Sachs; Audra Lalley from Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management; Mark Lindee from Wells Fargo; and Kevin Monaco, David Garfin and Scott Madison from Credit Suisse.
